About the Brand
Costa Coffee started in London in 1971, when Italian brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa began roasting beans in a small operation that supplied local restaurants. The brand has since grown into the UK’s largest coffee shop chain by store count, with thousands of locations across the country and thousands more Costa Express self-serve machines in petrol stations, supermarkets and other high-footfall spots. Whitbread ran the business for decades before selling to The Coca-Cola Company in 2019 in a deal reported to be worth around £3.9 billion.
The menu runs from core espresso-based drinks — flat whites, lattes, cappuccinos — through to seasonal specials like Whipped Lattes, Bubble Frappés and iced matcha. Food covers breakfast baps, toasties, paninis, cakes and pastries. Meal deals pair mains with drinks at set prices: the Breakfast Deal starts from £7.50 for a bap, coffee and juice, while the Lunch Deal brings together a toastie and a coffee from £6.50. Both are available in participating stores during specific hours. Costa also sells ready-to-drink cans through supermarkets and operates self-serve Express machines in thousands of locations nationwide.
Costa Club is the brand’s loyalty programme and the simplest way to save on repeat visits. You earn one bean per drink ordered; collect ten and your next drink is free. Bring a reusable cup and you get double beans — a free drink every five purchases instead of ten. The app adds a birthday treat, exclusive rewards and notifications about flash promotions. Gift cards start from £5, and free click and collect is available through the app at participating outlets, with delivery running via Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat.
Stack the loyalty perks with the deals listed on this page and your regular coffee run becomes noticeably cheaper.
How to use
Shopping Guide
Which Costa offers work without a promo code?
Right now, the bulk of Costa’s deals on this page are automatic. The Breakfast Deal and Lunch Deal apply in-store when you order the qualifying items during set hours — no code needed. Costa Club rewards kick in the moment you’ve collected enough beans. Delivery promotions through Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat work through the respective apps. Automatic deals and promo codes rarely stack, so pick whichever saves you more on that particular visit.
When’s the best time to look for Costa deals?
May tends to be a strong month for Costa offers based on our data, likely because the chain launches iced and seasonal drinks around spring and runs promotions to push new menu items. Black Friday and the January sales also bring heightened activity. Beyond those windows, codes and exclusive offers appear throughout the year with no fixed pattern, so checking this page regularly or installing a browser extension that alerts you when a new deal goes live is the most reliable approach.
How do I get the most out of Costa Club?
The single biggest win is switching to a reusable cup. Double beans mean you earn a free drink every five purchases instead of ten — that’s effectively a 20% return on your coffee spend. Register your card or app account so your balance is protected against loss. Beyond the standard beans, the app occasionally runs bonus offers such as extra beans on specific drinks or double-bean days, so it’s worth checking the app before you order.
What should I watch out for with Costa meal deals?
The Breakfast Deal (from £7.50) and Lunch Deal (from £6.50) are only available in participating stores, during specific hours, and apply to a set selection of items. You can’t combine them with other promo codes or discounts. Regional pricing differences mean the exact cost can vary slightly by location. Seasonal specials and limited-edition drinks — Whipped Lattes, Bubble Frappés and similar — can sell out during peak hours, so visiting outside the lunchtime rush gives you a better shot at getting what you came for.
