About the Brand
We’ve long regarded Whittard of Chelsea as one of Britain’s most dependable heritage drink brands. Founded in 1886 by Walter Whittard on Fleet Street in London, the business is now based in Oxfordshire and operates more than 40 stores across the UK, including its flagship in Covent Garden. Over its 139-year history it has built a reputation for quality, with a range spanning more than 125 varieties of premium tea alongside artisanal coffees and luxury hot chocolates. Recent growth has been driven by international expansion into Asia and the US, backed by a £12 million funding package from OakNorth in 2025.
We find the core range particularly comprehensive. It covers loose leaf and teabag teas — black, green, white, oolong, fruit and herbal infusions — plus ground and whole-bean coffees sorted by roast depth. Hot chocolate is a standout, with flavours from peanut butter and mint to raspberry ripple and vegan options. Beyond drinks, Whittard stocks teapots, cafetieres, grinders, mugs and glassware. Prices start from under £10 for gifts and £4 for hot chocolate, while subscriptions for regular deliveries can be set to ship every two, four or eight weeks and paused or cancelled at any time.
We also rate several of Whittard’s policies highly. The Taste Guarantee allows you to return any product within 30 days for a full refund or exchange if it doesn’t suit your palate, provided you keep the receipt. Whittard Rewards lets members earn points on purchases and enjoy free in-store samples. Delivery is free on orders over £40 and on subscription orders over £20, while click and collect is free on all orders. Students receive 10% off via Student Beans, and NHS staff plus other key workers can claim a similar discount through Go Certify.
Between the subscription flexibility, the Taste Guarantee and the regular seasonal collections, we think there’s usually a straightforward way to save. The codes and offers below round out those built-in advantages.
How to use
- Click the offer card on this page and the NHS discount code copies to your clipboard automatically. 2. Open www.whittard.co.uk in your browser, or click the store logo above, and browse their full range of teas, coffees and hot chocolates.
- Shop for your favourite blends, equipment or gifts — the code applies to NHS discounts up to 10% off. 4. At checkout, find the promo code box, paste the code and click apply. 5. Check your order total has dropped before completing payment, as codes cannot be added after placing an order.
Shopping Guide
When’s the best time to buy from Whittard? Whittard drops limited-edition seasonal collections throughout the year — festive hot chocolates in autumn, iced tea blends in summer. These sell out fast, so we stock up early. Boxing Day and January sales cut prices on gift sets and previous seasonal stock, so gift buyers should wait until late December if they can.
How do I stack savings when only one code is allowed per order? Whittard allows one promotion per order only, so check which single discount gives the biggest net saving. On a £45 basket, a 15% referral code saves £6.75 but leaves a £3.95 delivery charge; free delivery over £40 saves just £3.95. Sign up for Whittard Rewards too — points accrue on every purchase and can be redeemed later, stacking savings across orders.
Is the subscription service better value than buying one-off? Subscriptions suit regular drinkers. Set the frequency to every two, four or eight weeks and pause or cancel anytime. Delivery is free on subscription orders over £20, beating the £40 threshold for standard orders. If you finish a caddy of English Breakfast every month, the convenience makes it worthwhile. Occasional buyers are better off with one-off purchases.
Should I use my student discount or hold out for a bigger code? The 10% student discount via Student Beans and the 10% NHS code 3DF are reliable, but can’t be combined with other promotions. We use them on full-price items under £40 where no better code is running. If a 15% referral offer is active, that usually beats them. Both exclude electrical items and advent calendars.
What do I need to know before buying gifts? Customised hampers are popular, but made-to-specification and perishable goods can’t be returned unless faulty. If you’re unsure about flavours, stick to ready-made gift sets — the recipient can exchange within 30 days under the Taste Guarantee with a receipt. Gift messages are available at checkout and prices are hidden on gift orders.
