About the Brand
Twinings traces its roots to 1706, when Thomas Twining opened the Golden Lyon Tea and Coffee House on London’s Strand. The company still occupies 216 Strand today, making it one of the oldest continually trading shops in Britain. Now owned by Associated British Foods and headquartered in Andover, Hampshire, Twinings holds a Royal Warrant and sells across more than 100 countries. The 1787 logo — the world’s oldest in continuous commercial use — still adorns the packaging.
The online range spans roughly 200 blends, from classic black teas such as English Breakfast and Earl Grey to green, herbal, and cold-infusion varieties. The Superblends line targets specific wellness needs, while newer sparkling teas offer a carbonated alternative. Beyond tea, the shop stocks hot chocolate and malt drinks from under £1, gift hampers, tea caddies, biscuits, and preserves.
Several saving mechanisms run in parallel. Students receive 12% off via verification, and key workers get 5%. Newsletter sign-ups unlock exclusive offers, while the clearance sale frequently reaches 50% off. Standard delivery costs £3.95 on baskets below £35; express delivery is £6.95 and arrives within two working days. Twinings also runs a “Sourced with Care” programme that invests in water and sanitation projects within its tea-growing communities.
These built-in discounts, combined with the codes below, mean most shoppers can avoid paying full price.

Shopping Guide
When’s the best time to stock up on Twinings? The Twinings sale runs for much of the year and peaks around Boxing Day and January, with discounts reaching 50% off. Black Friday also brings deeper cuts on gift hampers and tea caddies. We’ve noticed that speciality loose teas and limited-edition blends rarely drop in price outside these windows, so plan ahead for Christmas gifting.
Which products give the best value per cup? Standard 50-bag boxes of English Breakfast or Earl Grey work out cheaper per cup than smaller 20-bag packs. The Superblends range sits at a slight premium but includes added vitamins and botanicals. If you’re after hot chocolate or malt drinks, the “from under £1” sachets are the most economical entry point.
Can I stack multiple discounts on one order? No — Twinings typically allows only one promotional code per checkout. Our strategy is to test the student code 3DF against the 20% sparkling tea code Sparkle20, then compare the basket total with the automatic sale price. If your order is under £35, factor in the £3.95 delivery charge; crossing that threshold often saves more than a small percentage code.
Are the verification discounts worth the hassle? The 12% student discount and 5% key worker discount are worthwhile if you’re buying full-price items. The verification takes under two minutes via Student Beans or the key worker portal. However, these codes don’t work on sale items, so skip verification if you’re shopping the clearance section.
What catches people out at checkout? Sale items with a short best-before date can’t be returned, and personalised gift sets are final sale. Standard delivery takes up to 7 working days, so don’t rely on it for last-minute gifts. Express at £6.95 is safer for urgent orders.
