About the Brand
Toolstation was founded in 2003 in Bristol by Mark Goddard Watts, whose family also had ties to Screwfix’s founding. Travis Perkins bought the company in 2012, and it now sits within the listed builders’ merchant group, operating more than 550 branches across the UK alongside stores in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. It stocks over 25,000 products, from DeWalt power tools to building supplies, serving trade professionals and home improvers alike.
The range covers power tools, electrical gear, plumbing supplies, workwear, fixings and outdoor paints, with prices generally undercutting traditional builders’ merchants. Multi-buy deals and rotating category discounts appear most weeks, and you can buy online, through the app, over the phone or in-branch. The catalogue is updated regularly with new lines from leading brands.
The stand-out feature is the free TS Club loyalty programme. New members get 5% off everything for the first month, and if you spend £75 or more in a calendar month, the discount rolls on indefinitely. There’s also a Trade Club tier for those spending £150 monthly or holding a Trade Credit Account, which adds unlimited free next-business-day delivery and partner perks. On the fulfilment side, click-and-collect is available in as little as five minutes, and standard next-day delivery is free on orders over £25.
Between the loyalty discounts, weekly category promotions and the codes listed below, there are several ways to knock the price down before you even reach the checkout.
How to use
Shopping Guide
Should I bother with the TS Club or just hunt for voucher codes? The TS Club is free and gives 5% off everything for your first month with no minimum spend. After that, you need to spend £75 in a calendar month to keep it. For one-off projects, the first month is a no-brainer. For regular trade buyers, the £75 threshold is easy to hit, and the Trade Club tier at £150 unlocks unlimited free next-day delivery. We tend to use the Club as a baseline discount and then layer category-specific deals on top when they beat 5%.
When’s the best time to buy power tools and building supplies? Sales run for more than 85% of the year, but the deepest cuts land in late autumn and post-Christmas. We’ve seen outdoor paint at 45% off in September and pressure washers drop by up to £80 ahead of winter. Black Friday and Boxing Day also bring bundled power tool kits. If your project can wait, these seasonal windows often beat the standard Club discount.
Click and collect or delivery — which works out better? Both are free, but they suit different jobs. Click-and-collect is ready in as little as five minutes, ideal when you’ve forgotten a fixing on site. Delivery is free on orders over £25 and arrives next business day if ordered before 9pm Monday to Thursday. For heavy materials like decking screws or multiple paint tins, delivery saves you lugging them back to the van.
Can I stack the TS Club discount with the deals on this page? You generally can’t stack the 5% Club discount with Trade Account offers, and some promotional items exclude Club savings. Our strategy is to use the Club discount on full-price items and reserve the bigger percentage deals here for categories like workwear or power tools where the headline discount exceeds 5%. Always check the terms on the offer card before you checkout.
