About the Brand
Master of Malt has been a fixture of the British spirits trade since 1985, when it began life as an independent bottler of single malt whiskies. Based in Tonbridge, Kent, the company shifted to a fully online model in the early 2000s under Justin Petszaft, who later brought childhood friends Tom McGuinness and Ben Ellefsen on board. A partnership with ZX Ventures — part of the AB InBev group — followed in 2018, giving the business the scale to expand its reach across the UK and beyond.
The catalogue runs into thousands of bottles: single malt, blended whisky, rum, gin, cognac, vodka, tequila, and pre-batched cocktails. Prices start from around £5 for smaller bottles and taster drams, climbing into four figures for rare and aged releases. What sets the range apart is the option to buy individual 3cl sample drams — a practical way to try before committing to a full bottle.

How to use
Shopping Guide
Is the Pour & Sip subscription actually good value?
At £29.95 a month for five 30ml drams, you’re paying roughly £2 per 10ml of whisky. Compared with buying full bottles sight-unseen, it’s a low-risk way to explore. The real value sits in the members-only store, which frequently runs exclusives and discounts you won’t see on the main site. If you want variety over volume, it stacks up well.
How can I get free delivery without overspending?
The £99 threshold is the gate. Standard delivery starts at £4.95, so it’s worth doing the maths — if you’re at £85, adding a £15 tasting set costs the same as the postage would have, and you get more for your money. Topping up with a £5 miniature is another route we’ve seen work well.
Are the tasting sets a smart buy or just a gimmick?
They’re genuinely useful for two reasons: sampling before committing to a full bottle, and gifting on a budget. The 3cl drams give you roughly one proper pour — enough to decide whether a £50–£80 bottle is worth it. At under £15 for a set, they’re one of the cheapest ways to compare styles side by side.
When does Master of Malt run its biggest sales?
Like most spirits retailers, the peak discount periods fall around Black Friday, the January sales, and the run-up to Christmas. The “up to 30% off” sales tend to appear during these windows. Signing up to the newsletter gives early access to these events, so you catch the best reductions before stock runs low.
