The story of Thorntons chocolate began in 1911 when the confectioner Joseph William Thornton opened a sweetshop in Sheffield, Yorkshire. He soon handed the keys to his son Norman and told him to make Thorntons the “best sweet shop in town.” Norman brought in his brother Stanley and by the 1920s the two were crafting Thorntons’famous special toffee alongside mouthwatering truffles and other delights. Over a hundred years later, the brothers’ passion and love of chocolate remains at the very heart of Thorntons.
